pisaynon: sir below the navel.

siraris: children of god, words are simply words. your love to me should manifest in your actions.
pisaynon: ano gid dapat sir?
siraris: so simple. pass quality outputs ON TIME, read your books and prepare. even these little things matter but some of you cannot.
pisayo: maybe it is a case of 3rd law!
siraris: ikaw GID!

lesson on tardiness

during 1st day of class..
siraris: children of god, there are two things i can't stand when it comes to student's behavior. first is dishonesty and the second one is tardiness.

several days after, pisaya got late..
siraris: pisaya, i hope this won't happen again.
pisaya: yes sir.

the following session, same pisaya mentioned above got late again..
siraris: i don't want to hear your excuses. just be on time.

and the "last straw" happened when pisaya mentioned above got late for several times..
siraris: *so-you're-late-again-look* indi na ini mayad. ano ang maayo sini?
pisayo: *nagsaligbat* KISS!
siraris: *redirects attention* who said "kiss"?
pisayo: *raises hands awkwardly*
siraris: alright, i want you to kiss pisaya.
pisayo and pisaya: NOOO!
siraris: if you wont then i wont continue my discussion.
pisayo: *does not budge at all*
siraris: since you don't want to carry out your suggestion, i want your class to perform the tasks which you should learn in today's session. outputs should be submitted by the end of your time slot. once, i have written all the tasks on board there is no turning back.
classmate1: sige na kiss man lang na. paayawan mo pa kami.
classmate2: damo pa bala kita obrahon karon.
classmates: *more pressure*
siraris: pisayo, last task na lang.
classmates: *threaten pisayo*
pisayo: *hands up in the air* OK! makiss na lang ako.
pisayo kissed pisaya and there seems to be Nagazaki and Hiroshima explosion for the second time.

several days after the class of pisaya (same pisaya mentioned above) presented their physics tricks. pisaya presented density column trick. it is a transparent soda bottle filled with honey, water and oil. she dropped several objects in the density column bottle. after presentation,
siraris: if pisayo (the one who kissed pisaya) were these 3 substances in your density column, what substance is he?
pisaya: sir, wala man na sya labot?
siraris: remember gintagaan ta ka chance magkuha gamit mo.
pisaya: ok, he is just water for me.
siraris: and why water?
pisaya: *grasping for justification*
then someone shouted..
pisayo: kay wala sya kataste taste?!|
siraris: hahaha!

Hey ya! you better watch this.

I go for the one in right! Twins are so adorable!

Sand grains photography, anyone?

Dear children of God,

If only I have the luxury of time I would be taking another hobby, sand grains photography. The picture below is an example how interesting sand grains can be when magnified 250x.

Can you just imagine what treasure we can find in the sand we just step upon. To see other remarkable pictures, please click HERE.

Another image you should not miss is how close someone could get to a whale shark. Take for instance the picture below.

For other amazing pictures of sharks near encounter with humans, please click HERE.

Finally, I came across a webpage which works like Google Earth but it caters Earth Science enthusiasts primarily. I suggest you play with the buttons and see what happens when you click HERE. It starts with South America but you can scroll all the way to Philippines. It even provides you information about the occurrence of earthquakes, geothermal maps, oil and gas maps, and other maps.

The first two links should hopefully inspire you to pursue photography seriously other than your field of expertise. You see, no one can take science pictures scientifically except you who are inclined to it. You can hire a photographer but it is different if you take the picture yourself the way you wanted it.

Go diggin',

Were you born out of love?

I was once asked by my student if the mass of the Earth changes over time to which I replied with a yes and no. I explained that the Earth's mass is constant however when space particles (e.g. captured space dust and meteoroids which become a meteorite upon landing the earth's surface) become an integral part of earth's surface then mass increases. This increase in mass is insignificant unless what lands on earth is so massive. Let me repeat it, the earth's mass does not change/increase at all significantly.

I thought it was the end of the discussion but I saw a hand being raised up in the air. This scholar inquired, "When the population increases over time, does it affect the earth's mass?" The question made me smile because moments like this make teaching so fulfilling. Where in the world will you encounter such question from a twelve-year old? Anyway, I replied that the earth's mass remains constant despite the increase in population. I had to remind the kids that in our mere existence we also "consume" matter. We eat, drink and stuffs which require us to grow. All these stuffs are converted into you. It is just a mere conversion of mass from one form to another. In other words we are just a manifestation of the law of conservation of mass.

With the heated discussion on Reproductive Health Bill, I wish I could turn back time and explain the natural laws of science with respect to RH Bill. Of course that won't be possible because it would be advocating my own beliefs to a captured audience, my students. Have you attended a science class where a teachers gives more attention  to Darwinism setting aside Creationism? It seems like that.

Why is there a need for an RH Bill? The plain and simple answer is to control and abort overpopulation. And why control and abort population? The advocates of RH Bill would point out to our population as the culprit of our miserable economic state. By controlling the population we can be assured somehow of economic development. In simple words OVERPOPULATION EQUALS POVERTY.

In science classes, you probably encountered the words "carrying capacity". This concept tells us that a number of organisms can only exist in certain maximum number in order not to endanger other organisms which exist in an area. It encompasses as well how an environment can sustain the population and its activities. I do agree that there must be a "ceiling" to the number of organisms BUT nature has its way of leveling off things in nature. If you have not noticed, insects for instance would grow exponentially in number for sometime in a year or season. It takes one person to destroy the world but it takes so many to build a city. In the case of third world countries, overpopulation becomes an issue as to who has the right to exist in this world. Is it the right of an individual or few persons to decide who and what number should exist? To whose hands should we let this crucial role to assume?

Let us take for example the lifestyle of rich countries vs poor countries. Isn't it that America whose population is less than 1/5 of world's population consume 26% of world energy. Now if we translate that to energy and resources, who really is consuming and depleting our resources. I wont even include here how much pollution they contribute worldwide. Of course, I wont deny that China with big population is also a great contributor to population.

I repeat again and again that nature has its way of fixing herself regardless of our number. We cannot make drastic move to simply address the issue without assessing its negative impacts and how to deal with them later. Let us not as well forget that more than the opposition by the Church there are issues which should be addressed by the Bill.

I am against of RH Bill, in some of its provisions only, due to the following points:
1. Curbing the population is a drastic move when the only excuse is for economic reason. We simply think poverty is due to the number of poor people. However when poor people are given the opportunity, education for instance, then there would be more independent citizens of this country. It is not the number of people but how you make out of this number of people. We simply lack PATIENCE and FORBEARANCE so we offer solution to a problem without pondering well.

2. Babies now are a thing of commodity. Gone are the days when a newborn is welcomed as a blessing. Modern people would see in their heads diapers, milk, tuition fees, mouth to feed and anything that would equate money for having a baby. We let ourselves evolved into a lower life forms because we view babies differently. During ancient times everyone in a family anticipates the birth of a new member of the family. We are filled with excitement and joy to have a baby in the family. Have you not heard anyone telling you, "lain ang kalipay nga ginatao ka bata sa sulod ka balay" ["There is nothing compared to the joy brought by the child at home"]. That is why when some parents find out that they are expecting for a baby they would either accept or reject the idea. When it is unexpected some would abort the baby. We refuse to become RESPONSIBLE. Isn't it that our children make and change us into parents?

If a baby is a result of lovemaking (which is different from fucking) then we should be glad to have someone to remind us always of our LOVE towards each other. Do we really see our children as product of love or do we see them as product of lust. It is sad to note that our population grew into what it is now viewed by people as products of lust and not of love. How tragic would it be to find out that you were born out of lust rather than out of love. I won't stop people from making love but I definitely abhor fucking.

3. Grade 5 pupils can now be taught sex education. One might think that I am conservative but I cannot simply imagine how can a parent allow other people to teach her child basic things in life. Why do we refuse to be PARENTS of our children. Isn't it that OPENNESS is expected from each other in the family? Isn't it that parents know best (well at times could be detrimental but in few cases) for their children? Sex, love and values should be the first responsibility of every parents. One is lucky enough if you can come across to someone whose character is well founded but take note that an individual whose values are right is also the product of a parents' constant teaching. Sex education is parents' primodial duty just like character formation. You don't expect a teacher to teach your child honesty, and chastity except through your own actions.

4. Sex, sex and sex. We tell each other to fvck and fvck because we have condoms and other artificial means. We refuse to DISCIPLINE ourselves and do it naturally because we would like to give in to our desires. If I want to fvck then I can do it anytime and to anyone because it is safe. We want to copulate like animals and we wish to act like them. There is no longer SELF-CONTROL and RESPECT of another. Sex is for animals and lovemaking is for humans. There seems to be no substitute to how we show affection towards each other than to fvck. Giving of one's self must be totally without all those contraception implanted or attached in one's body. Why subject a partner to contraception just to satisfy human urges? Love goes beyond sex and love can wait in marriage.

5. RH bill will educate Filipinos of sex. They said that through education women would be given more option and not simply natural. It is now a choice between what is convenient and what is not. We want the easy way out. However it is in difficulty that we develop our character and our capacity to love is measured. How can one prevent conception to take place if the very act is lovemaking? Education I suppose should help people be enlightened and have options of good things rather than to choose between what is good and bad. Education must be based on natural laws (and cannot be denied how one's belief would fit into it).

Let there be billions more Filipinos born out of love, not out of lust. When we truly love the result of lovemaking then we would see other people differently.

I was born out of love..were you too?

Gusto mo ba ng tunay o artipisyal? warning: love me or hate me

My parents would always remind me never to discuss publicly topics on SEX, LOVE, & POLITICS. These are things which will make you earn or lose friends. However I will defy the reminder to prove my point on an issue which involves not only sex but also politics rolled into one.

When I asked my students and friends regarding their stand on the issue, they would either support or disapprove the bill. Never did I encounter anyone thinking about their decision on matters regarding RH bill, the Reproductive Health bill. However, most of them would later admit that they have not read the full text of the bill. It is disappointing to know that most of us would come into a decision without even looking into the entire bill.

Let me remind you that this is not written to persuade or dissuade you especially to my students who can be easily influenced by my thoughts. My blog from the very beginning was started based on the principle of teaching you both sides of the coin. It is my hope that after reading this you will at least come up with a decision based on what you think and feel is right.

DISCLAIMER: You better decide now your stand on RH bill before reading further. If you wish to change your mind on this issue then I won't know if you did because I was or am your teacher or simply because I am convincing enough.

The truth is, I gave a lecture on Data Presentation in Civil Service Commission Regional Office. I raised the RH Bill issue (which I now regret why I did) as an example for them to interpret. However, I was challenged by one of the participants to divulge my stand on the issue. I diverted the issue by telling them to ask me after my lecture ended and they had to remind me about my promise.

Let the politicians do the politicking and I will let the sexists? do the fvcking. Since I am a Physics teacher I will stand by the laws of Physics and science in general. I will abide to the natural laws.

I am not really against of RH bill especially its goal towards development. I just cannot afford to nod my head to some of its provisions. I won't be enumerating the provisions of the bill I find offensive to my logic. Whatever is illogical and unnatural is a big no-no to me.

Let me remind you the case of Dolly, yes the cloned sheep and not the columnist. It was the first reported cloning of sheep but it also raised so many ethical issues. She was cloned as part of research into producing medicines in the milk of farm animals. We can only see the research and the end of solving the problem but not means in achieving it. Dolly was considered a "failure" for having arthritis and progressive lung disease. She simply "carried on" the biological age of her donor cell.

Why do we want to produce milk not only from sheep but from cows as well? Except for those who are incapable due to health reasons, some moms chose not to to save her figure, because everyone is feeding her child cow's milk and because moms do not have time to lactate her own child or due to convenience. Majority of Filipino moms would still prefer cow's milk over their own milk the reason the following ad was shown years ago which was spoofed by Bubble Gang.
See, we go beyond the natural and we are now reaping the cow-like children of today. Hindi hayop and anak mo?!

Have you heard about GMOs? It is not Gloria Macapagal Orroyo but genetically modified organisms. This is also a product of science which aims to mitigate problem on world hunger. There were several important crops like rice, corn, and eggplant genetically modified to be pest resilient and high yielding. But what happened after its introduction? We started also facing problems worse than what we had when we plant naturally. Nowadays people would even advocate to go farming naturally and organically. You better read this link about GMOs.

Now if you try to analyze the problem on milk issues is it not about a matter of attitude? How about the food crisis? Is it not because of greed? The problem lies not on issues but on its underlying issues as well. Problems cannot be solve on its own merit alone due to its complexity.

I am not against of RH bill in general but I am against anything artificial in particular. When some parts are disagreeable then what does it make of its whole?

They said that RH bill is the answer to the poverty due to overpopulation. RH bill has nothing to do with the number of people. It is a matter of how we entrust God to decide who should be born and how many. If God wants to eradicate us all then what can we do? This is a matter of faith the reason why the Church wants to get involved. People should not place in their hands to control ARTIFICIALLY/UNNATURALLY the number of people. We should let God take care of His people. If God does not want someone to be born then what can we do? Disasters happen when we allow ourselves to take charge of His will. His will equates what is natural. The following video would even support my claim.

See our misery stems from our ATTITUDE of greed. We have all what the world can offer in all our needs but not to human greed in all is form.
